Optimize your Desktop

Your interaction with your Computer starts with the booting up of your Operating System. When the OS is loaded completely, the Desktop gets displayed. Its very vital to keep your Desktop well organized for greater productivity and efficiency. Organizing your Desktop can also save you lot of time. So, by far optimizing your Desktop is necessary. Now, let’s start to optimize your desktop:

Step 1: Set up a good, clean and productive wallpaper along with inspirational.

The wallpaper should be clean, with as less details as possible, so as to reduce waste of time, while searching for something from a huge collection of Desktop Icons. It should be also inspirational in the sense that whenever you watch your wallpaper you boost up your energy, thereby increasing your productivity.

Step 2: Organize your Desktop
Organize your desktop in such a way that only the most required items are on the top. Also, organize items by groups and sub-groups if possible using some softwares like Desktop Blinds, etc. Because clutter of un-necessary Desktop Icons causes stress in the central neuron system. So, its best practice to keep only the required Icons on the top. Organize your icons in such a way that your most used Icons are the most easiest ones to search and reach. You can also create separate folders to keep same kinds of files in it, like for your “Project”, you can create a Folder named “project” and keep all the required items in it.
You can also make sections of your Desktop to keep separate variety of files. This method is known as Sectioned Desktop Method. In this way, it would be easier for the user to reach the required items in less time, thereby increasing the productivity.

Step 3: Automate Repetitive Tasks

Automate the repetitive tasks like checking of E-Mails in your account, using Microsoft Outlook Express. You can also use some software like Hazel (Mac OS X)  or Belvedere (Windows) to create repetitive tasks and they are performed when some special criterion are met. For example, task may be set up to clean the desktop of unwanted Icons whenever they are not used for certain duration of time. Tasks can also be set up to archive images or other files when they are not used for certain time. In this way desktop can be kept clean.

So, in this way, with a small effort and will, you can make your Desktop look fascinating and inspiring.
